I haven’t gotten to troop this event since 2010, because they usually hold it right before Dragon Con when I’m sequestered to my sewing room. This year it was in May so I finally got to participate again!
Leia problems: I can’t get my sunglasses all the way on with the buns. They usually get stuck at some point so I have to wear them like this because some sunglasses is better than no sunglasses.
I think I need to edge the center of my buns up just a tiiiiny bit? Like not even half an inch, just a tiny bit. Thoughts you have in the car looking in mirror.
I was thinking about how much things have changed just in the time I’ve been trooping… when I first started, nobody took photos unless somebody happened to have a camera. Nobody had camera phones. Now everybody does so you’re just constantly taking photos with kids and adults and it’s a lot of fun.
Lots of excited and cute kids.
This young man showed up in the Tony Allen jedi robe from the Grizz Star Wars game last year:
This little girl was dressed as Obi-Wan and was soooo cute.
Lately I’ve been thinking it might be time to make a new robe. Mine is right at 10 years old – like literally this week in 2006 I was making this version for the WSMI event that year.
It’s served me well but I’ve always thought it’s a tiny bit too wide through the body and my sleeves are little too big at the upper arm, causing the whole upper section to look a little too baggy. Like I said, just being nit-picky. The new jet-set poly at Joann’s is thinner than what I used in 2006, I think it may look a little better than the thicker version I have now.
I just need the Tigers to do some kind of Star Wars night now, so I can get a picture with Pouncer.
We had to bow out around 7 to get to a family function, but it was a lot of fun, we got to do a costume parade with all the costumed kids around the field before the game started. That was neat – Chase got video.
All of my pics are here!
